Topiary
bath decor brings nature indoors to create a tranquil oasis. Topiaries
have a peaceful connotation and have been enjoyed by many for centuries.
Both Greek and Roman gardeners and sculptures have worked with topiaries
and they have found their way to modern day home decor.
Stemming from the Latin word topiarius, topiaries
can be made from a variety of foliage such as bay leaves, myrtle, yew
and holly. In a diverse assortment of shapes and sizes, topiary bath
decor can be made from both fresh and artificial plant-life.
There are several styles and shapes of topiaries to consider.
Some of these include:
• Spiral
• Ball or multi-ball
• Foliage topiaries, which are filled with greenery that is not
trimmed to a restrictive shape, but left fuller than the spiral or ball
shapes.
• Palm topiaries, which make use of plants with fronds or other
naturally draping leaves for their shapes.
There are several options for containers or bases to hold the topiary
– everything from metal to ceramic to wood. Often in topiary bath
decor, a small topiary is in the bathroom and then the topiary motif
is echoed throughout the accompanying decor – this may be through
pictures of topiaries imprinted on wallpaper, paintings, or towels.
This natural theme is an effective way to bring living greenery indoors.
