selection of Tea set.
A
tea set is a grouping of dishes, which are often used formally for dinner
or afternoon tea. The set typically includes: cups and accompanying
saucers, a sugar bowl, and a teapot. Sometimes a set will include a
"creamer," which is a smaller holder for cream or milk and
is also called a jug or a milk pitcher.
Tea sets are produced in an array of materials such as
porcelain, milk glass, and woods like teakwood and rosewood. Styles
can vary from classic to modern, with different themes such as floral,
seashells, gardens and Asian designs.
Whether one is an occasional tea taker or a collector,
knowing some basic tea etiquette is helpful for any setting. For example,
the spout of the teapot should always face the pourer or hostess. Additionally,
one should never hold their tea cup up in the air or wave it. It should
either be placed and lifted from the tea saucer at a table or held in
the right hand with the saucer held by the left hand in one's lap.
