Rugs
can come in all colors and textures, but there are generally three types
of rug:
• Area rugs
• Mats
• Runners
Area rugs take up a large space on the floor and usually
accent or match the decor of the rest of the room. Some area rugs can
bring the room together pattern or motif-wise. Others might be more
of a focal point.
Mats, however, cover a space that is usually a high-traffic
area. Mats in front of the kitchen sink or near a door will preserve
the fibers of your carpet or the wood of your floor during and after
much use.
Runners are used along longer stretches of floor, such
as in a hallway. This type of rug both preserves the high-traffic floor
area and can add to the home's decor as an accent or background piece.
