Out
door furniture distinguishes a garden or patio from being just another
yard. Furniture can include: chaise lounges, couch sets, chairs, tables,
pub tables, coffee tables, end tables, rocking chairs and so much more.
Arrange furniture for parties, gatherings and bbqs or for one-on-one
visits and solitary time spent in the privacy of your own backyard.
When choosing items such as outdoor furniture, remember to keep in
mind the harsh weather conditions that might occur. Look for items that
are made from a hardwood such as teak. Teak is both resilient to the
elements and to bug infestation. Also choose items that can withstand
heavy trafficking and continual use.
There are several considerations that need to be evaluated that relate
specifically to outdoor furniture. For example:
• Rust - Rust is not something that you need to worry about
with chairs indoors, but any metal furniture you use outside of the
home could be prone to it. When deciding if metal furniture is best
for you, consider how effectively you will be able to keep rain off
of it before you make the purchase.
• Decay - Even if you have wooden chairs, water can still play
a big part in harming them. Often, if wooden furniture is left unprotected,
it can mean that water will seep into the chair and damage the wood.
This happens quite often when the furniture is placed directly on the
grass, because the grass gets wet and the legs rot. This can be avoided
by using a waterproof treatment on the chairs or other furniture.
• Bugs - While bugs are only an occasional annoyance for anything
inside your home, the outdoor furniture is under constant attack. Spraying
your furniture with bug repellant (especially against termites) can
improve the likelihood that your furniture will last a long time.
By remembering these guidelines, you will be much more likely to
purchase outdoor furniture that will last and look good for a long
time.
