An ornament is any small or medium-sized glass, wood, ceramic or stone object used for decoration. It can be fastened to a larger object, such as a tree, wreath, door or porch frame or it can be placed on a holder or stand. Ornaments are typically used during holiday seasons, but can also be found year-round.

An ornament can be added to any room as a focal point or accent piece. They can also continue to show a motif already present in a room. For example, a southwest style room might have a smaller cascade of pottery pieces attached to a beam overhead. Or a hanging flower plant might have an additional object hanging from it such as beadwork or a wind-spinning piece.
