Garden
decor is similar to home decor in many ways. Both garden
decor and home decor are all about making a space beautiful and making
every element fit together. When it comes to home decor, you work
with important elements such as paint or wallpaper, rugs or carpets,
furniture, paintings, decorations, and the arrangement of these items.
Garden decor uses fences, outdoor walls, and trees instead of paint
or wallpaper. Garden decor deals with grasses, walkways, and porches
instead of rugs or carpets. Like home decor, garden decor does often
include furniture. Of course, the sort of furniture that you use must
bear weather well and may need to be stored during the winter. Instead
of paintings, beautiful garden decor can be made up of different plants
and flowers and trees and grasses. And instead of your normal decorations
like vases, you can decorate your garden with fountains and statues.
As you can already tell, garden decor and home decor do have many
things in common. Of course, neither type of decor is only about which
items you include, but about how you include them. It is just as important
to arrange your items in a beautiful manner as it is to have beautiful
items.
If you plant your small flowers behind your tall bushes, you are
not going to even see them. If you do not trim your bushes, they may
grow out of control and cover other plants. Place your table and chair
in the shade, etc.
Consider a “theme” for your garden decor. You may want
to create an oasis, a jungle, a Japanese garden, a British garden,
a play area, or anything else. Do you want a wild garden, or a pruned
and pristine garden? Whatever garden decor you desire, you are sure
to be able to find a way to create it.
Of course, even if you do choose a theme for your garden decor, it
does not mean that every element of your garden has to adhere to that
theme. Not everything has to be of the same color or of the same style.
In fact, it can be quite fun to mix and match. Maybe you want to bring
in elements of a Japanese garden by bringing in elements such as sand,
stone, and water, but then you might want to add an incredibly Victorian
fountain right in the middle.
You can think of your garden decor in similar ways as you think of
your home decor. In your home, you may very likely have an antique
next to a piece of modern furniture or something else of that sort.
You can take similar ideas and apply them to your garden decor. Sometimes
you can take two seemingly opposite elements and draw them together
with a simple pillow or walkway or mirror, etc.
The important thing is to have fun with your garden decor!
