The wind blowing through your hair, sand beneath your toes, sun toasting your skin; with beach home décor you can experience that feeling everyday without stepping foot on a beach. So whether you live in California or Colorado you can experience the beach in the privacy of your own home.

Achieve a clean elegant beach look with crisp white linens, beautifully scented candles, and beach inspired accessories like seashells and coral. Paint walls with cool blues, lush greens and warm yellows. Fill glass containers with sand and exotic shells, starfish or beautiful flowering plants. Accentuate walls with gorgeous photos of ocean sunrises and sunsets or wood signs that give the appearance of driftwood you could actually find on the beach.

Beautiful ceramic tiles in a bathroom make for an ocean oasis or move the beach into your bedroom with bedding and pillows with a nautical theme. Linen is great beach inspired fabric for bedrooms or living room furniture such as couches.

Lighting plays a big part in achieving the beach look. Lights on dimmers, hanging lanterns and plenty of candlelight make for an atmosphere reminiscent of sun sets and bon fires. Wicker or bamboo furniture fits perfectly with this theme. Other items that make for a coastal theme are throw pillows, lamps and other items decorated with palm trees, pineapples, tropical fish, flamingos or sailboats. There can come a point however where the beach theme can go too far. Keep in mind that if you go overboard with cutesy beach themed items your house may seem less like a relaxing beach home and more like the ocean threw up all over it.
