Barbeque
grills have the uncanny ability to bring neighbors together on summer
afternoons, but what if you've never grilled before?
One of the important things to understand is what the
temperature the meat should be. Therefore, the day you invest in a barbeque
grill should be the day you invest in a meat thermometer, as well. Here
is a quick and rough guideline (and keep in mind that the temperature
of the meat will continue to rise a bit, even when removed from the
heat source):
• Beef, veal, lamb – medium rare is 135-145 degrees
Fahrenheit; medium is 145-150 degrees F; well done is 160 degrees
F… be sure that the outside is browned
• Ground beef, pork – must be at least 160 degrees F
• Poultry – must be at least 170-175 degrees F
• Fish – between 120-140 degrees F
